EXPLORING SELF AND WORLD !

We are asked from childhood what is our aim in life, what do we want to become. In my school i kept on changing or rather exploring options. Born to an Indian Army soldier and grown up in military cantonment i realised i wanted to join Indian Armd Forces after i lost my father to blood cancer when i was 16. The uniform, environment, support and sense of belongingness towards Army attracted me to continue this relationship with Defence forces life long.
I joined NCC during my graduation so that it paves path for me to join forces. During this three years of training and certification course, i learnt many lessons, won many competitions, discovered my capabilities (never knew i could be a good rifle shooter !), earned many medals and built everlasting beautiful relationships. Finally earned C Certificate and became eligible to go via direct entry to attend SSB interviews to join defence.

To cut short, from Dec 2016 to 2020, i gave nine interviews- all unsuccessful. During this journey of constant failures i kept working on myself. Studied and cleared AFCAT, INET, and gave so many CDS exams. And now i am no longer eligible to join regular service in Indian Armd Forces. I could NOT attain my aim!

These past years had been constant struggle of falling, attempt to rise, prepare and come back to give another better performance in following interviews. Today when i look back, i ask myself, "what did i get after putting that much hard work?". Answer i got is "failure"; but a voice from corner of my heart whispers, "but you NEVER QUIT".

For 8 years of my life i had clear vision where i wanted to go. And then when i am no longer eligible to join forces, it was all darkness and back to same question of childhood, "what is aim of your life".

Sad thing, but definitely not the end of the story. Now has the new journey begun- my full time involvement in corporate world. My corporate career began with working in two big 4 firms and i am mesmerized to see this side of world beyond military cantonment. One of the special things about being Army brat is travel i.e., exploring. And this thing still continues to stay with me - EXPLORING SELF and WORLD.
